Hi, my name is Caihao Cui, and most people know me as Chris Cui. I’ve been working as a senior data scientist at the Digital Team of Aurecon Group (Melbourne) since 2018, where I apply modern machine learning and computer vision techniques to enhance digital solutions for industrial projects.
I received my PhD degree in Computer Science from La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia, in 2019. Before PhD, I got a Master’s degree of Engineering on Control Theory and Control Engineering in September 2014, and a Bachelor’s degree of Engineering on Automatic Control in 2011 from Harbin University of Science and Technology (HUST), China.
I was a casual academic staff at LTU and the TA for the courses Computational Intelligence (CSE 3/5 CI) and Visual Information System (CSE 3/4 VIS) from 2015 to 2018. Besides, I succeeded in the Australia Postgraduate Research Intern Project (AMSI) with Aurecon from Nov-2017 to March-2018. During 2011-2014, I used to work as an electronic engineer and software programmer on academic projects supported by the Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration and Development (RIPED) and Daqing Oilfield of CNPC.
I am also a member of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society( CIS, Vicotria Section) and IEEE Young Professionals and serve as an active reviewer of the following journals:

In 2022, I am honoured to be invited as an Associate Editor of the new journal of Industrial Artificial Intelligence, Springer Nature, which focuses on research on AI applications in virtually all industrial processes.
My current research focuses on machine intelligence in computer vision and industrial applications. The main topics include image processing, deep learning, text mining, large-scale data analytics, algorithm design and ensemble learning strategies.
