About Me

Hi, my name is Caihao Cui and most of people known me as Chris Cui. Currently, I am working as a senior data scientist at Digital Team of Aurecon Group (Melbourne) where I apply the modern machine learning and computer vision techniques to enhance the digital solutions for industry projects.

I received PhD degree in Computer Science from La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia, in 2019. Before PhD, I got a Master degree of Engineering on Control Theory and Control Engineering in September 2014, and a Bachelor degree of Engineering on Automatic Control in 2011 from Harbin University of Science and Technology (HUST), China.

I had been a casual academic staff at LTU and the TA for the courses of Computational Intelligence (CSE 3/5 CI) and Visual Information System (CSE 3/4 VIS) from 2015 to 2018. Besides, I succeeded the Australia Postgraduate Research Intern Project (AMSI) with Aurecon from Nov-2017 to March-2018. During 2011-2014, I worked as an electronic engineer and software programmer in academic projects supported by Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration and Development (RIPED) and Daqing Oilfield of CNPC.

I am also a member of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society( CIS, Vicotria Section) and IEEE Young Professionals and serves as an active reviewer of the following journals:

  • IEEE Transaction on Cybernetics
  • IEEE Transaction on Neural Networks and Learning Systems
  • Information Science
  • NeuroComputing
  • Applied Mathematical Modelling
  • WIREs Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery
  • International Journal of Machine Intelligence and Sensory Signal Processing.

My current research is focusing on machine intelligence in computer vision and industrial applications. The main topics include image processing, deep learning, text mining, large-scale data analytics, algorithm design and ensemble learning strategies. I have been trying to do some research work about  natural language processing (NLP) since 2019, which I find is very interesting.
