I am a senior data scientist at the Loyalty & Personalisation of Endeavour Group. Endeavour Group separated from Woolworths in 2021 and is well-positioned as an ASX Top 50 Company within the retail business. It has more than 1600 stores and 330 hotels nationally, including leading brands such as Dan Murphy’s, BWS and ALH Hotels.

Before this role, I worked as a senior data scientist/consultant at the Digital Team / Data Analytics of Aurecon Group (Melbourne) from 2018 to 2022. Aurecon Group is an engineering, management, design, planning, project management, consulting and advisory company based in Australia, with operations in Africa, South East Asia, New Zealand and Australia, where I apply modern machine learning and computer vision techniques to enhance digital solutions for industrial clients.

I received my PhD in Computer Science from La Trobe University (LTU), Melbourne, Australia, in 2019. Before PhD, I got a Master’s degree in Engineering of Control Theory and Control Engineering in September 2014 and a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering on Automatic Control in 2011 from Harbin University of Science and Technology (HUST), China.  

From 2015 to 2018, I was a casual academic staff at LTU and the TA for the courses Computational Intelligence (CSE 3/5 CI) and Visual Information Systems (CSE 3/4 VIS). From Nov-2017 to March-2018, I succeeded in the Australia Postgraduate Research Intern Project (AMSI) with Aurecon. During 2011-2014, I used to work as an electronic engineer and software programmer on academic projects supported by the Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration and Development (RIPED) and Daqing Oilfield of CNPC.

I am also a member of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society( CIS, Vicotria Section) and IEEE Young Professionals and serve as an active reviewer of the following journals:

My current research focuses on machine intelligence in computer vision and industrial applications. The main topics include market forecasting, recommender systems, online learning, image processing, deep learning, text mining, large-scale data analytics, algorithm design and ensemble learning strategies.
